These speakers are the real conservatives and they will tell you up front that they don’t agree with most Democrats BUT they see the very real danger that their party has become. Sometimes a back-fire is necessary to fight a forest fire. In other words, take the bus that gets you closest to your destination.

Yup! We can return the favor by supporting Republicans who follow reason and act in good faith. We all recognize that in some places getting anyone left leaning elected is practically impossible. So what we can do is back a good red ticket instead. Just one of many courses we could take in the near future. If you squint, this also has the potential to lead into a three party system later on.

That said, accountability should be part of the game they’re playing.

Ever heard the phrase RINO, Republican In Name Only?

Reagan and Jerry Falwell purged the liberal GOPs back in the 1980s.

These days, George W. is considered a weak sister.

    Oh how typical.

Republicans speaking out against the evil they not only participated in, but profited from… but only after they’ve done their damage, made their corruption money, and retired, so they can have their cake and eat it too.

When it comes to misogyny yes, but when it comes to the racism it’s a different kind of acknowledgment. It’s the “I know I’m running in the party of racists while in an interracial marriage, but I’ll live with them if they can live with me”.

Man I wish people understood that the Republican party is literally dead. Like, the Trumps literally own the party. And constitutionally, they can defacto choose their leader from here on. I mean everyone lost their shit about Debbie Schulz and Bernie, but the Trumps literally fucking buy the RNC and no one makes the connection? Can we bring that back up? Because they call Kamala’s ascendancy questionable — it’s pure projection! Who can even believe anything our beleaguered eyes even say anymore. Fuck this, fuck everyone. If Kamala doesn’t win, I hope I’m dead before we infinitely regress into feudal pieces of shit

No. They’re just realizing there’s a difference between an opponent and an enemy.

I may think non-MAGA Republicans are wrong, but I never doubted that Romney, McCain, and even Bush were traitors or enemies of the United States. I’ll happily work alongside Republicans when our goals align, I’ll speak out when they do not, and I’ll try and reach a consensus with my fellow Americans.

Trump is a traitor and an enemy to American Democracy and the rule of law. There is no compromise. No working together. He needs to be stopped at any cost, and I’ll accept the help of anyone who wants to fight him.

The other thing to note is that these Republicans believe it is in their best interest to endorse Harris.

When it comes to how politicians act, I quote my old political science advisor, they say “I’m not dying in that ditch”. The bottom line is re-election. Everything else is secondary.

These Republicans, like any politician, did the calculus for their political survival and decided their chances are better speaking at the DNC- that is not to be ignored.

Just because Trump is a bridge too far for them doesn’t mean they’re not the enemy when it comes to everything except presidential endorsements.

The DNC promoting these Dick Cheney-style ghouls is moving the media Overton window further right to the enormous detriment of everyone who’s to the left of Ronald “sledgehammer to the economy to benefit the rich” Reagan.

While I wish that were true, it’s simply not, there’s still more movable “moderates” in between Democrats and MAGA for them to matter massively electorally, and still far far too few leftist Democratic voters for them to have to listen to.

I’ve only ever heard this as a talking point but never backed up with any data. There are hundreds of thousands of voters to win in key states by forcing Israel to agree to a permanent ceasefire with conditional military aid that requires them to abide by International Law

It’s certainly not far more unless you’re only looking at Republicans.

                From the poll:

Republicans and Republican leaners are more supportive of providing Israel with military aid than are Democrats and Democratic leaners. Half of Republicans favor military aid, with about three-in-ten saying they strongly favor it.

A plurality of Democrats (43%) oppose providing Israel with military aid for the war against Hamas, while a quarter support it.

U.S. adults are divided about whether Biden is favoring the Israelis too much (22%), favoring the Palestinians too much (16%) or striking the right balance (21%) on the Israel-Hamas war. Fully 40% say they are not sure.

While overall views have changed little since we last asked this question in November and December 2023, the share of adults under 30 who feel Biden tilts too far toward Israel has risen 9 percentage points, from 27% to 36%.

But this poll does not discuss Americans view on a ceasefire. If you poll democrats and independents in swing states on that issue you get the following:

An April 2024 poll of likely voters across the U.S. found that 30% strongly supported withholding military funds to Israel until the attacks on Gaza stop; another 25% somewhat supported that conditional aid policy.

Below we asked all respondents what minimum combination of policies would secure (for non-Biden voters) or solidify (for Biden voters) a vote for Biden for President. A third or more voters in every state except Minnesota said a lasting ceasefire was among the minimum policies that would be needed to secure solidify their votes

Although voters are split on whether they approve or disapprove of Biden’s handling of the war, the vast majority (≥ ~75%) across all states still support an immediate and permanent ceasefire. Only a small minority of voters, from 11.2% to 16.1% in Minnesota and Pennsylvania, respectively, strongly approve of the President’s approach on Gaza. Of those, the vast majority in each state (≥64%) strongly support an immediate and permanent ceasefire. That is to say, a change in approach would not lose those votes, but staying on the current path risks doing so.

What’s needed is for the US and other countries to stop supplying weapons to commit genocide with, at the very least, and preferably treat the fascist apartheid regime like they treated that of South Africa.

It shows that there’s a diverse party of people that are trying to lead America into the future and a party that only has a plan to rule America into the ground.

Obviously Republicans that aren’t willing to sell out their country for a chance to kiss the ring are looking for some way to distinguish themselves from their treasonous brethren.

I mean, you got a point, but as citizen of Czech Republic, they don’t seem to do enough, and U.S. politics really feels like “right” and “more right”.

You guys need to fix your voting system. (I know it’s easier said than done, my country is about 5th of the age of U.S. Advantage of starting later is a real thing.)

You, like oh so many people, are incorrectly and harmfully putting social progress on the same axis as economic progress, when it is its own axis. And there’s no logical debate that can be had about the social (or Z) axis; one side is bigotry, the other is acceptance. The fact that we tolerate the mere existence of any bigoted politician is a monumental failure of our society, let alone that we allow an entire wing use bigotry as their identity.

When it comes to the X axis of politics, one wing is capitalism, the other communism. This is the only left vs right comparison that should matter; capitalism with a rainbow sticker is still right wing.

It’d be nice if we had any healthy opposition. Instead of a party of tantrum throwers and a party of “if we compromise with fascists, they’ll eventually be satisfied.”

i love how dems have just adopted every talking point that republicans have been using for the past twenty years, and literally nobody fucking cares, because it’s actually based.

Alternative title: “Democrats have moved far enough right while pretending to be on the left that conservatives openly support them”

    Disgusting

If Biden is doing such a good job, and things are going good… why is Harris talking about changing everything on Day 1? I don’t get it… they’re in power now, and yet, everything is STILL Trump’s fault…
