    It’s very worrisome and probably deserves a new model. Newspapers are a public good, so maybe they should be funded by the public like schools and libraries.

      the internet should be able to provide all information on what your local government is doing and should provide a local forum to discuss and share information about what is happening in your community

      i also think there should be a way of verifying that you live locally, so you can only contribute if you have a id posted to you, like an election card. i don’t think this identity should give away you real name and address, just verify that you are real and local

    Newspapers have already died - killed by the wealthy who bought and co-opted them. Real news, not to be confused with propaganda and misinformation, is readily available online to those with decent critical thinking skills.

      Propaganda and misinformation is also readily available online, disguised as real news, and is great at targeting people who think they have great critical thinking skills!
