As much as I am against the death penalty, if I had to choose a method for myself that seems like the least painful way to go as it won’t trigger the hypercapnic alarm response.

No matter what, capital punishment is just completely immoral. Some might even say unchristian.

Unless they fuck up the system and don’t remove the CO2 properly, or the person panics and holds their breath, or any number of other things that could possibly go wrong.

If I was dying of cancer and a doctor was managing the setup, yeah it would be great. But some amateur putting someone to death with Home Depot leftovers because medical professionals won’t participate in the death penalty due to having ethics means that it will probably go as wrong as their previous attempt to put this guy to death.

Gotta get the CO2 out to avoid the suffocation feeling, and they already have some kind of mask thing that they won’t even share the plans for. Because it is amateur bullshit like all of the other execution methods.

These idiots couldn’t make scrambled eggs.

You’re unconscious before CO2 even becomes an issue. Nitrogen gas is one of the favored suicide methods in form of suicide bags and similar DIY methods.

I’d likely go for guillotine. Brain can’t operate without blood and if you sever all the arteries/veins at once it’s immediate lights out when that pressure drops. Internal decapitation from a noose isn’t too bad either though, but neurogenic shock likely takes a noticeable amount of time compared to just completely dropping blood pressure entirely. Not that you’d remember it.

Testing from the days of guillotines seems to suggest you could be conscious for up to 30 seconds after getting your head removed

This seems rather simple. The state failed to execute this man once before, just give him a life sentence instead like the original jury recommended.
