Yup. Reality. No point using a hyper secure chat system if literally nobody you know is using it.
Hi! I’m British, I like music (grime, garage, hip-hop, R&B, and more!). I like art, culture, history, politics, & doomscrolling memes.
Also a touch of programming :)

I still remember the ordeal of getting through the Fade portion of Origins… it was awful.
The rest of the game was top notch though
I’m cautious about this game. It’s been redeveloped like 3 times into completely different genres, pretty much nothing has been shown about it, and Bioware is nothing like it was years back.
Could simply be a case of protecting their largest assets incase someone big really did try to replace reddit.
Not quite. This isn't an uncommon thing and appears in the log under the name "Anti-Evil Operations" (yes, really). In this case, it appears the admin probably didn't activate their admin status properly or something.
It isn't that they want to hide the action, it's just not meant to appear under a personal username.
Change sorting to “Top 6hr”. I browse by Hot sometimes but that’s my primary sort atm
You’d be better off posting this on a Malaysian community, like !cafe@monyet.cc
They made a announcement here on Lemmy https://lemmy.world/post/3234363
The original was posted on discord. It was:
Removal of Piracy Communities
Earlier today, after review, we blocked and removed several communities that were providing assistance to access copyrighted/pirated material, which is currently not allowed per Rule #1 of our Code of Conduct.
The communities that were removed due to this decision were: !piracy@lemmy.dbzer0.com, !piracy@lemmy.ml, !steamdeckpirates@lemmy.dbzer0.com.
We took this action to protect lemmy.world, lemmy.world’s users, and lemmy.world staff as the material posted in those communities could be problematic for us, because of potential legal issues around copyrighted material and services that provide access to or assitance in obtaining it.
I think it comes down to the US being tolerant because winning hearts and minds was more important than destroying Opium. The Taliban has no such qualms.
Worth noting however than this source is questionable and probably shouldn’t be used https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/mint-press-news/
Official statement
lemmy.world hasn’t defedered from lemmy.dbzer0.com entirely, they’ve just blocked the piracy community.
Fair. Personally I’m just sh.itjust.works as my alt instance.
Just block the ads with a DNS blocker, like NextDNS.
