The same day Taylor Swift posted a message encouraging her followers to register to vote, over 35,000 people reportedly made a “Run (Taylor’s Version)” to do so on Vote.org.
“Vote.org saw record-breaking traffic to our site this week as we celebrated National Voter Registration Day, a highly encouraging sign of voter enthusiasm especially among newly eligible voters. Time and time again young people are showing up and demonstrating they care about their rights and access to the ballot box,” Andrea Hailey, CEO of Vote.org said in a release.
The American multi-genre singer-songwriter’s post also linked to the organization’s website, according to the release. In the Instagram post, Swift called on her army of fans, also known as “Swifties” to “[r]egister to vote in less than 2 minutes” via the nonprofit’s site.
Not a fan of her music at all, but I’m now a fan of her as a person.
You should read some interviews she gave around 2020-2022! She talks about 2016 onward and how she decided that she needed to be political and start using her influence.
On a more subtle note, she used to hold really large 4th of July parties, but those fell off in like 2017-18 because of her distaste for the state of things.
I know I sound like her publicist haha. Her music helped me out when I was younger, but it helped me out even more during the pandemic when I was in a pretty rough spot. I think it was Folklore where she went from a more pop sound to a folksy sound, and I absolutely love it. Her music then onwards has been really introspective and self critical and brutally honest. It's incredibly relatable.
It was her publicist that made her have those parties and never give any political statements. 2018 coincided with when she left her old publisher. She has talked about being pushed to apolitical as possible so as to appeal to conservative America.
That sounds right. I can't remember what she said exactly, but I could swear she also said once that she was taught in country music to be apolitical and not speak out.
I have to say, I'm really glad she left that publicist. She seems genuinely happier.
You are a very easily swayed person
So tell us-
What does it take for you to like someone? Don’t be shy now. Be honest. What would someone have to do for to to become a fan of them as a human being?
idk, but more than just saying "voting is important"
If you can’t see the difference, it’s beyond me to explain it in a way that would help.
Best of luck.
