The largest school system in Kentucky closed schools Thursday and Friday following what the superintendent called a “transportation disaster” that left some children on buses until just before 10 p.m. Wednesday, the first day of school.

It’s so sad that red states create these policies just to undermine their own population. All this will do is create brain drain. If you’re a bus driver or teacher in Kentucky you can make way more money in blue states. Why stay? I know you love your community, but they don’t love you.

I believe they gave a consulting firm $200k to come up with the plan that failed. They tried to get away with fewer busses and drivers because they didn’t raise wages enough.

They literally tried everything except paying drivers what they need. Now they’re fucked.

They could pay me half the amount they paid the consulting firm and I’m sure I’d figure out how to get kids home before 10pm

Bullshit. I’m in a blue state and there are so few drivers that the busses alternate routes weekly… Every other week there’s no bus for a route. Parents are stuck driving their kids to school and picking them up.
