  • While nothing is ever black and white, it’s undeniable that the relationship between the west and Africa has been deeply exploitative. It’s also pretty well understood what people mean by the west. These are vassal states of the US that are politically subservient to US and rely on US for military protection. These are countries that are aligned around the failing liberal capitalist ideology that US promotes.

Kicking out western neocolonial regimes is a prerequisite for any positive changes in the countries of Africa. Only once these countries are under control of the people living there can they chart their own course. As long as they remain under the yoke of western hegemony, the interests of the empire will always be put above the interests of the people living in these countries.

  • Newsflash, you can find people in any country who don’t like their government, and you’ll obviously see these people over represented in the population that left the country. The fallacy of your argument is to conclude that the people you know hold the opinion of the majority of people in China. I made plenty of friends who from China in university, and most of them went back after graduating. Vast majority of people in China support their government and are proud of their country. Even western polling admits this.

  • That’s a weird direction to take things in. I’m simply pointing out that China has a pretty good safety record when it comes to use of nuclear energy, and it’s one of the biggest users of nuclear globally. So, this narrative you’re painting doesn’t seem to really hold up in face of that.

And I’m not denying that political games between Japan and China are going on as they are everywhere in the world. I’m just pointing out that I would personally be happy with my government avoiding food from a place where nuclear waste was discharged recently. Even if the risks are claimed to be low, no risk at all is obviously better.
