They definitely aren’t. They just passed an anti-lgbt bill and the next day a well known trans woman was stabbed to death.

.ml here, I hope he goes to prison for a very long time.
Granted I knew nothing of the differences between .ml, hexbear, etc at the time I joined, and still kinda don’t. To be fair I question what the hell im doing half the time anyway lmao.
Maybe someone that is a little more involved in the different servers could shine some light? Cause man I get frustrated seeing some of the stuff I do, even when I try to tailor my feed to certain subs it still bleeds through lol.
As much as I don’t want to agree, I partially do agree with your first statement and hope (regardless of how little faith I have in the justice system) that they are intentionally doing this so they can let the can of worms open if he loses and then take every single person they can down with him when they try to derail the results and attempt a 2nd coup.
It would be the icing on the cake, like you lost and you made a second attempt at it, there’s no fucking back tracking and now we have even more people that came out of the woods to help you and we are going to take you all down.
They could put him in jail now, but corruption is rampant, but maybe (sliver of hope) there is some quiet digging of graves for these people to fall into.
Just a note for those interested in the local play aspect of it like I was.
You don’t need to create an account to play the game locally.
You can just exit out of the first menu and play the scenarios that are available.
I was considering that, but was reluctant to do it without any advice since I don’t know enough about the Deck and how it works other than it runs on a variant of Arch.
After your comment I did try it and it worked.
Thank you!
Did you read the article?
He was already a special needs student with an apparently individualized education program. This doesn’t sound like a “Why now?” Situation. It sounds a bit like there may be more going on, especially since the school district declined to answer when questioned about it.
You may be right that it’s probably not the first sign of aggression but he’s also autistic with other issues. Do you know how expensive it is to get help, how our healthcare/insurance system preys on people to take their money rather than help them, and the likelihood of this family maybe not being able to help more than they already were?
I feel sorry for the person that he hurt, but this is a mentally ill black kid getting tossed in prison because of a mental illness. Which is going to ruin him just like you said.
The judge saying he showed no remorse is bs used to paint this kid in the worst light. Well no fucking shit he showed no remorse, if he’s got a bunch of mental problems that would make sense. I knew a kid growing up that was similar, he was extremely strong and even the slightest thing could set him on a rampage. His parents drained everything they had into helping him, but it wasn’t enough. When the insurance stops paying what are you going to do?
I’m not saying that nothing should be done but there’s more to this than “parents failed the kid with mental disabilities”.
Yeah, it sounds like some reform to the process should be made.
I don’t necessarily disagree with having child welfare involved, just how they handle things might be a bit (or a lot) on the iffy side.
This is where you get to an impasse though, the procedures are possibly (I say possibly because I don’t know the history there) the way they are because people complained of not getting enough help, so the rules were changed to become more involved to better protect those needing help. Now it’s too much so people are up in arms again.
So often victims of domestic abuse go back to that situation, whether it be fear, love, pain, or whatever other reason there is. There is a reason for “but we simply don’t trust you to stick to that decision”.
There isn’t a cut and dry solution to problems like this. It doesn’t really matter which direction they go, there will always be people screaming about not doing enough, or doing too much etc.
They may be legally required to tell the abuser what is going on… I mean, how can you serve a no contact order without telling the accused.
There is a ton of work to unfold here, so many things that are in place for a reason, as unreasonable as it may seem. It will always be a work in process with such sensitive situations.
I’m from the States and have spent a more than a decade living in other countries, and have had plenty of time to see how people around the world interact with their (and other people’s) children. I have to agree with you that this really doesn’t seem like a big deal.
It looks really bad from a western perspective, especially for people that have no understanding of other cultures.
Do I agree with it, no. That’s just my personal preference though. He didn’t backhand, punch, or otherwise harm the child, and the child didn’t even seem phased by it.
Had he done this in a country other than Turkey it may be newsworthy, this just seems like rage bait.
So why can’t we call this what it is.
An attempt at election interference and throw his ass in prison for treason. For such a high profile person it should be considered no less.
Because without context it comes across as racist.
Which is exactly what these people are being when they are saying that she is a diversity hire. Basically that she was only hired because she is black/indian, and a woman, not because she is qualified.
It’s actually being pushed as “broken” for 6.10 but should hopefully be completely available in 6.11.
I didn’t at first, but after the response from @mranderson17 I ended up doing just that. Which seems to have resolved that issue.
Prior to enabling testing/unstable repos for access to Plasma 6.1, CM was working fine on Wayland. However after the update it seems to have broken it but changing to X11 fixes the issue. So it’s likely a combination of me messing with my system and something with Plasma 6.1.
Thank you for that.
It didn’t help but it definitely got me moving in the right direction. I remembered that I recently (yesterday) enabled the testing and kde-unstable repos in my system so I could install Plasma 6.1 to check it out. Prior to this change I had CM working properly but was having issues getting CSP to work. Well, I figured out a workaround to getting CSP to work (after this change) by just copying over my install directory from windows on top of the install in Linux. However since I had already updated to Plasma 6.1 it came with the new issue of the drop down menus.
I was using Wayland. Just swapped over to X11 and it’s working as intended. So something with Plasma 6.1 on Wayland is causing the issue.
So mostly a bunch of messing around with my system is probably what is causing the issue and for whatever reason disabling the testing and unstable repos isn’t allowing me to revert back to the previous version of Plasma. Not really sure why but that’s a totally different issue.
I really appreciate the time you took to give me such an in depth response.
As someone that has been working around weapons for the better part of 20 years, I disagree with your statement of not being blamed.
It’s unfortunate yes, but whoever had that weapon in their hands and pulled the trigger should hold some blame.
If anyone ever hands you a weapon, movie set or not, it should be checked.
I do understand that it doesn’t quite work that way but that’s how it should be. Anyone handling a real weapon, especially during the course of ones job, should be required to go through training.
You can put the pumps in maintenance mode. I did it on accident once looking for the mute button. I held down one of the buttons for like 10 seconds and the pump went into maintenance mode. Just leave it like that lol.
Just installed this on my shield. Ty for this.
You’re right even though you’re getting down voted.
Doesn’t make Uber or Lyft any less shady of a company but so many people have no idea of the overhead it takes to “run an app”. They think that it’s just some computers talking over the Internet that they pay 100$ a month for and not the possible 100’s of thousands of dollars they pay monthly for the infrastructure to support those apps.
It’s not an offline game that someone can just download and play, it’s a live service that is running, plus all of the data whether financial or otherwise that is being stored on multiple levels of backups not to mention the security infrastructure that needs to be maintained etc etc etc.
That being said, I’m not defending these companies in the slightest, but for someone to just say “run an app” is a massive understatement.
This is the point here.
Many people have no idea of the infrastructure and costs needed to run many of these servers that provide services to people.
I disagree with things like Adobe basically using it for DRM but have no issue for services that are literally serving millions of people and providing something worthwhile that the majority of the population would otherwise not know how to do on their own.
There is some nuance to it, like offering a service and then slowly creeping costs up or adding an advertisement tier and dropping everyone to that etc is crap. But in general, if they are providing a decent service then I don’t really have a problem with it.
If I overdraft it pulls from another account that I have. I still get hit with an overdraft charge even though there was money in the other account to cover it. It’s not necessarily as simple as you say.
You could bring up the argument of changing banks, but aside from that one issue, the bank I use has done really well by me, to include reversing a debit (not credit) card charge when there was a bad charge.
Realistically, the overdraft charge should be eliminated and banks just shouldn’t allow the charges to go through unless there is a separate account that has money to cover it.
This is in Canada not the US.
