Like holy shit, tariffs are nearly universally agree by every field of economics to be shitty for citizens, businesses, and then the country. It makes no one inside want to buy anything but the simple basics, even with the basics now costing much much more.

I am not a “free trade” person, but this is not how you “Make America Great Again”. Even Ronald Reagan and Dubya didn’t do tariffs as a replacement for other things.

If there’s ever been proof that America has an injustice system instead of a justice system:

• Trump is guilty of all 34 counts, is allowed to still run free, still allowed to run for president, still gets massive coverage from every piece of media, even ones that lean liberal.

• Every single black American has to worry about cops just randomly shooting them, without judge or jury, just executioner.

• Women had their bodily rights revoked by an illegitimate court.

• Trans people are new scapegoat after gay/bi/lesbian people struggled to get the same rights as the 90% since the 1960s at Stonewall.

But sure, we live in a free country where a fascist can be arrested, found guilty, lose more money than any person who could support such a fucking loser would ever see in life, and still do will in polls and not have serious challenge.

Sure a 5 year old doesn’t have the vocabulary and mental fortitude to understand or explain the concept.

But if you have a child, you raise them for 5 years, I assume you care about them. You can explain “Can you help mommy set the table?” or “Can you pass daddy the plates?”

You don’t need to explain the process of your work and the commute and other things. But if you just explained things to your children, they’ll understand. When my parents did, I got to understood the task and why they wanted it. When my mother or my boss barked orders without any understanding why or how, I was left more confused.

And trust me, I worked retail, most people are fine, some people are real pieces of work. I still have some horror stories of customers, some frequent, some once or twice. But what got me out of every single one, was talking it out. From a dude who had literally half of his skull and brain missing, to my co-workers, to the average customer I forgot by the end of my shift.

I am, and they wouldn’t care in a draft. I’m a suicidal weirdo who refuses to harm anyone, I barely have the will power to harm myself, let alone others stuck in similar situations.

I just will say anything to get out of service of a war.

Better than shooting someone in cold blood because “murder is valid because we said it was war time.” I’d rather be in jail than a murderer, I don’t need to add PTSD when my brain is already fucked up.

If I am ever drafted (Unlikely due to my shoulder, colorblindness, various mental health things) I will just start saying “I’m going to tell the enemy where my group is and sabotage equipment. I am a liability, you don’t want me there. If you put me with radio, I will shoot that radio. If you put me in cooking, I will spill the beans. If you give me a gun, it’s not going to be used at the enemy.”

Will I? Probably not. But talk is cheap and I don’t think a military group wants someone who publicly stated “I will commit treason and aid the enemy.”

Genuinely feels great to be hopeful about some parts of technology/software like this. I eagerly look forward to an update from KDE and sometimes GNOME.
