It’s not about cheapness, it’s about consistency.
You wanna set up different dev environments and process for every single language you or someone from your team might use? Oh we need documentation and a license for IDEA when we’re doing Java work, and PyCharm when we’re doing Python work, and WebStorm when we’re doing JavaScript work, or we just all use VSCode for everything.
I’ve worked on Java teams, Python Teams, JavaScript Teams, C# teams, and quite frankly, I’ve seen no major benefit to a dedicated IDE for that language vs just configuring VSCode plugins and CLI scripts.
VSCode & VSCodium are also free for commercial use.
Why learn an IDE you won’t use anywhere else?
Yes I do, both are designed to get the user to where they want to be in the game faster than loading the game from scratch and navigating through menus to get there.
They took different approaches in design, but both are attempting to tackle the same UX issue.
That’s what I mean though, both are trying to accomplish basically the same thing, but Sony’s implementation is kind of half baked in that it requires developer support and doesn’t actually resume the game, just gets you close to where you were.
It functions differently, but both are trying to accomplish the same thing from a user perspective, to get them back into the specific part of the game they were just in.
The differences in how they approached that problem is what I mean by Microsoft running around Sony software wise.
Despite other problems, it really feels like Microsoft runs around Sony in circles when it comes to their software prowess. Quick Resume doesn’t work flawlessly with every game, but when it does work it’s pretty incredible to jump straight back to the exact same state in another game as if you’d never closed it.

They’re comfy, they’re easy to clean, they’re water proof, they can be worn like slippers with the straps up or can be more comfortable for walking around with the straps down, you can regularly find them for $30.

the law wont save you. laws will prevent no one from doing this, just like outlawing encryption couldn’t prevent decentralized encrypted messengers from being used.
An illegal actor could still comb the internet and create a private face recognition db, but they would be taking on risk, paying substantial infratstructure costs, would not be able to make it widely available for fear of being caught, and would have limited options for actually making any real money from it.
It would completely prevent say, your average stalker, or jilted ex, or non techy weirdo from.being able to access it, and it would prevent corporations from spending all their time building business around privacy invasion.
No, you can address this through laws and legislation. You literally just ban people from amassing personal information on other people like Europe is doing.
The combat is way too easy on normal difficulty
I played all the side quests and by like the halfway point, I took off all my armour and just beat every single enemy to death with my bare hands. I would definitely recommend a higher difficulty if you’ve played any rpgish games before.

I hear what you’re saying, but gamers in this thread (and every thread), are demanding that it come out on Steam, not on GOG, which makes them a huge part of the problem.
Lock in exists partially because gamers have lionized Valve for throwing them trinkets and refuse to use anything else, while Valve has designed their platform around a mandatory launcher and done what they can to lock players into it.
