Yeah, I think I remember something like 10-20k to refill the cooling on an MRI, and that is just topping it off as some is slowly lost. The helium is just used to cool it. Helium is helium, so no such thing as medical vs not. The cost to repair this thing is going to be absurd. They are making better machines now have little to no loss, but I don’t think those are super prevalent yet.

Thank you for answering the question! I am genuinely both trying to make a point and still be open to try new things. To me, there seems to be a real downward turn on UI/UX in a lot of applications these days, corporate included. When they mentioned the bit about supporting corporate, I have a hard time believing they will get very far with that customer group right now.

I really wish software, especially FOSS, would stop making the UI the afterthought. I try to keep a holistic view when designing things and everyone has a seat at the table. I wonder if projects are boxing themselves in and making it harder for the UI teams to properly integrate, and vice versa? I will happily take criticism and ideas from pretty much anyone, especially outside my immediate teams.

I am pretty out of the game on that as I spent quite a few years doing controls engineering instead. I am back in Software now and I feel old and a little lost. I graduated back in 2012 and we didn’t have all of these crazy developer roles and more specialized degrees. They were trying to get a Game Design program started when I graduated, and it was supposedly a mess for a few years.

But my question is about the user experience and UI. I can run a docker script, but I care about the thing I can see and interact with.

All I read is Marketing Tech Speak that sounds no different than anything else that gets advertised in my face. At work, we use Teams. It is a pain sometimes when it gets a little buggy, but integrates into SharePoint/OneDrive and the noise suppression in meetings is pretty awesome. At home I use discord or GChat because that is where all my friends are. I don’t assume I have privacy on any of these platforms and they all work on my phone and computer.

How is the user experience? Ultimately, give me privacy, but if the user experience and UI don’t give any improvements over the corporate ones, I will have to try it some other time.

Long tangent, but I got the Edge or whatever stupid expensive version they have for the extra triggers/levers underneath. I have really small/short palms and don’t have the reach to push all the buttons properly. I wouldn’t be able to play Elden Ring at all without them. I roll and use potions with the levers instead. Even then, it is still painful after a while and some of the contortions I have to do at times can be annoying.

I have the issue of barely having enough “wrap” with my palm and pinky to grip around the hand things that are angled down a little too much. I absolutely despise that the dpad is one of those rocker pieces underneath instead of individual buttons. I will accidentally do a direction I didn’t intend because I rocked the down button too far to the right. It is because the controller still isn’t straight when I hold it. lt is partially rotated in my hand so I can get a little more reach upwards and it makes the dpad usable. Having to compensate the direction of joysticks is super fun. I basically have to death grip the controller with my right pinky and tightly squeezed palm to keep it stable.

When that accessible controller came out for the Xbox I was super bummed it wasn’t for all platforms yet. Doesn’t help I would need to have 2 kits to be able to have separate sides like joycons. Joycons have been my favorite controller of all time as I can comfortably hold them. I tried making a proof of concept sort of gel/shredded memory foam cover, which did help, but it didn’t solve the severe pain in my palm, especially the area under my pinky that I use to death grip the controller. After seeing the glove Martina made after she cut off her pinky, I want to try and make a glove next to take the pressure off, improve grip, and sort of brace/support the part of my hand that I keep hurting.

It sucks that accessories keep getting more expensive. I haven’t had any issues my my edge, but you bet I would be utterly infuriated if it didn’t last when it is almost half the price of the console itself. I have some mechanical keyboards and those things can really get up there in price too. Ergonomic mice are not exactly cheap either. I hate having to use a trackball but so far the only comfortable one is that Logitech one and I have to use the extra angled base it comes with. I game with it.

That blows. I never had a ps4, so I don’t know the whole deal about modding/rooting it. It is crazy that some of these devices have “fuses” that can brick your device if tampered with. It is my device dammit.

Most people don’t have a passport. It is expensive and a pain to get one. If you don’t ever leave the country, most see no reason to. We don’t have national IDs, but we do have state. Technically, they rolled out this new RealID crap that is probably closer to a national id, but you have to pay extra and it is still done through the state. Neither of these are required. If you drive, your drivers license is your ID. Otherwise, you can get a state id so you can get alcohol, weed, cigarettes, and other dumb shit. When you get your ID, you can register to vote right there if you qualify and I think you can get a paper card. There is no reason to go through any extra hoops once you register to vote. You are in the system as a registered voter.

I tie a slip knot. That is stupidly easy to do/undo, but apparently I am hated for it.

I think everyone has explained the how and why, but not any real solutions that don’t involve using a completely different application. I don’t have an iPhone in front of me, but with Android you can share as a link to Google Photos instead of sending the picture/video directly. I am pretty sure you can do something similar with iCloud. Have her try the share as iCloud link instead.

Update: I just tested it. I had them open up Photos, go to the image/video, tap the share button, and then if you scroll down a tiny bit there is a share as iCloud link. I was able to view it just fine on my Android phone.

One big difference is that one was done by an adult. Now we are faced with a whole bunch of kids who are fucked in the head with far more advanced weaponry compared to 1927. Yet the adults keep ignoring the kids and despite all previous warnings, continue to let it happen. If your child was already previously being investigated for threatening to shoot up a school, then you damn well better help them. Sell your guns and use the money to get them some therapy. If you get calls saying there are going to be shootings, you don’t sit there with your thumb up your ass until a bunch of people get massacred, yet that is exactly what happened.

The indifference, apathy, media sensationalism, and bullshit thoughts and prayers just make it worse. As soon as the media stops talking about it, it may as well never happened. Maybe some sob piece months later from the parents, but those are barely a footnote. Our country is fucked. Darkest timeline.

As someone who has been to these places, yeah, it is usually a bunch of migrant workers or children of migrant workers who already work there. I don’t think I have ever seen a white kid, much less adult, fulfilling those roles. They really do give the worst jobs to the people nobody gives a shit about. So yeah, these people are definitely poor as shit.

When I learned it was a woman I immediately felt sick. The amount of sexism from these people is disgusting. Once you think about the history of women being “hysterical” and how it was “treated”, it even gets more disturbing. I wonder if they would lobotomize her if given half the chance.

The amount of tantrums and cowboy behavior from people in the “industry”, which is mostly automated warehouses/robots for me, is ridiculous. I don’t fucking care about the schedule when it conflicts with safety. The PM and customer can go fuck themselves. I absolutely despise when people encourage unsafe practices, cut corners, or bully their coworkers for being pussies. These people tell stories of near misses like it is a badge of honor.

JFC on a stick. Lock your shit out. Wear the damn vest. Wear the damn shoes. Wear the fucking hat. Wear all the rest of your required PPE. This isn’t Fashion Week in Paris. Everybody should be able to go home every day with all their limbs intact. You are not just hurting yourself. You are hurting everyone. There is no fucking reason to traumatize your coworkers because you were too fucking lazy to lock the equipment out and got your arm yanked into some conveyor. Nobody needs that.

I had a friend do this. It was utter misery for over a year. Most of his teeth were shattered, so he had to wait for a lot of fragments to expel naturally.

Do not discount pain management that involves opioids. Not saying to use them for weeks nor do I know your personality for bad habits, but if it gets bad please don’t suffer for no reason. Getting ibuprofen or acetaminophen with low dose codine may be a good middle ground and is even available over the counter in some countries. Extended pain is mentally exhausting and isn’t worth the hit on your mental health.

f you are struggling taking pills, get liquid ibuprofen. Sometimes you can get a chemist to make a suspension for you, otherwise get childrens. I do that if my throat gets too infected and I am unable to swallow. Honestly, it works far better than the pills and I needed a lot less.

Best thing is to be honest with your doctors, even if you do not want anything stronger. Be sure to communicate any discomfort due to ill fitting dentures. Ask questions if anything unexpected comes up. My friend’s doctor was super shitty and didn’t even tell him about all of the left over fragments that still had to come out on their own.

No idea about which specific type of business it is, but keeping that history long term can have some benefits, especially to outside people. Some government agencies require companies to keep records for a certain number of years. It could also help out in legal investigations many years in the future and show any auditors you keep good records. From a historical perspective, it can be matched to census, birth, and death certificates. A lot of generational history gets lost.

Companies also just hoard data. Never know what will be useful later. shrug

I don’t think they did it in the later movies, but I watched the first one dubbed in Spanish and it was strangely better. I don’t even speak Spanish.

That sucks. Some locations everything is locked up, other ones are better. I usually stick to the “nice” mall or go to a standalone store instead. Just in case you didn’t know, places like Sephora and Ulta allow you to return whatever. If you hate it or it bothers your skin, just return it. They will also give you samples, for some things at least, to take home if you ask. Such as foundation or something. They have these little tiny generic containers they can fill. Target used to be pretty good for skincare, but I haven’t been in one for a long time.

Muting! I have done a few safety light curtains before and it is really cool how they can tell the difference between a human and a pallet/part/etc with just lasers. There are some really complex safety scanners out there, such as the area ones, but it is neat.

The thing that would make this easiest is the direction of travel. If everything goes the same way around the belt, not terribly difficult to detect things going the opposite direction.

Main point is there are a lot of easy ways to prevent stupid, but stupid will still try and circumvent it.

Me too! I have used it for a couple other non-rpi devices in the past as well. It is super simple and works on my Mac. I haven’t even looked at other utilities in years.
