I mean netcode for pc-to-pc games at least isn’t really rocket science. I’m not as familiar with the crossplay aspect, but I’d hazard a guess that it is only difficult because console manufacturers have locked multiplayer networking behind their own subscription services. I connected to mine via ADB over ssh to remove the stock launcher and install FLauncher. It kept trying to launch the google launcher anyways so I removed play services and some other stuff also and just replaced the stock youtube with some third party client. Its been working ok so far! Every so often it will boot to a black screen (I think it fails to start the launcher) but a reboot fixes that.
