It was around that time that social media really took off, and we saw the start of what is now a constant and organised firehose of conservative bullshit spread across it. And there’s an audience receptive to that bullshit.

The Republican Party is now under the control of people who have been immersed in that environment. And it’s only going to get worse.

At a certain point, a company’s primary product becomes its stock. Share buybacks, short term gains, etc become the strategy. The goal is no longer to create value for customers, but to create value for shareholders.

The realpolitik answer is that they’re the only country in the region with highly functioning western-style market economy. That is valuable to other functioning western style market economies. Its a system trying to help itself propagate.

They’re addicted to attention. And will do anything to get it.

I thought the rainbow of the pride flag was meant to represent diversity and cover all orientations…like how a rainbow spectrum of light literally covers all colours. Now specific groups are being added and people are finding ways to add another line to represent something. The flag is a mess.
