Unfortunately there are only a few cities where this is a reasonable ask in the United States, and none I know of are in Texas. Most are in colder parts of the country.

The Texas state government’s path forward here is to do what they can to pedestrianize and densify their cities, but that’s a long term project.

There are security concerns. Cars are the worst product category for privacy. The issue is that goes for all cars, not just cars from opposing superpowers.

I’m not sure I’d call this “cheaping out” but unless you can’t even afford that or you have a specific reason you need a more expensive one, you should buy mid-range ($200 - $400) phones. The early '10s are over and mid-range is more than adequate for the average phone user. Plus quite a few mid-ranges still have expandable storage and/or headphone jacks.

Reminder that Russia’s ultimate goal is a version of the EU led by Russia, France, and Germany that’s overtly anti-American, anti-British, and anti-Canadian, and allows Russia to annex Finland, Georgia, most of Ukraine, and parts of China.

Really the US government just needs to stop treating Israel as an ally entirely, it’s really fucking interesting that Israeli money benefits largely the same politicians that Russian money does, Russia being a state whose long term geopolitical goal is to force USA, Canada, and UK into isolationism.
