I had a friend just the other day have this conversation with me about how Social Media is bad for kids, but he as a grown ass man is able to determine if what he reads and hears online is healthy and useful to his life. This same person has spent the last 13 months discussing his divorce and how a fortune teller at the RenFest told him he had a dark aura and was difficult to love, and has been basing real life decisions on this comment.

My wife and I go out of our way to try to reinforce the fact that we, as parents, very very very much appreciate their teachers. We give them Christmas cards, end of year cards, we donate gifts to them, and any time they send home a letter saying they are running low on supplies we donate something with a thank you card. Hopefully this eventually becomes apparent to the kids that they should appreciate the teachers just as much.

No doubt, it is just funny to be that passenger rail is so out of fashion in the US that most of the population things the rails simply don’t exist, when they clearly do, in droves even. They are just privately owned and rarely shared.

The United States has more usable rail miles than all of Europe combined. But it’s limited to freight traffic only. Amtrak has to lease time on the rails, which is why it’s pricey

I had a business idea (Which I’ll never do because that is too much work) where I essentially go around and just buy/lease people’s roofs and install solar panels on them. I’d pay either a portion of the energy re-sell value over a very lengthy period of time, or a flat estimated portion amount of return. I feel like solar’s biggest issue is mostly land so people don’t really do much with their roof, it’s free real estate!

Instead of someone coming by and saying “Pay us to put solar on your roof” you’d get me going “I will pay you to let me put a thing on your roof which you will probably never notice, I’ll even insure the roof so if there is storm damage to your roof I’ll cover it”.

Add in the situation where you decide to keep the panels you can buy them off me by either buying it straight up, or letting me just keep the portion I would be giving you for some amount of time, then your roof and the panels’ ownership would revert back to the homeowner.

Honestly the most fun I had on Wheels was before I realized the tutorial existed, and I was brute force learning the game with trial and error. Then the game kind of got really easy. Still fun though.

I have a pretty large city, but something is wrong with my tax calculations? I have one industry pumping out 150x the taxes of everything else combine. Just a blanket of $5m from lumber an in-game hour, next best is Metals at $45k a day.
