That’s how it was at my old job and I miss it. At my current workplace they only retain mail on the server for 1 year. If you want to retain it longer you have to archive it yourself and I just don’t have the local storage to archive all of my email on my machine like that. (External storage devices also aren’t allowed.)

Personal email? Squeaky clean. Work email? I keep all of them for later reference. Currently have 6500. It’d be more of it wasn’t for our 1 year retention policy.

In my little slice of hell summer means it’s low to mid 90’s everyday with 60%+ humidity and it rains every fucking afternoon. You can’t go outside for more than 5mins without sweating profusely. It’s kinda ass.

I dicked around with the VM route for a while and could never really get it working 100% to my liking. There was always a trade-off. I ended up just getting a second PC and tucking it in a cabinet out of sight. When I need Windows I just use remote desktop to connect to it.

What would you suggest then? They’ve been unable to sustain themselves via donations alone.

Mozilla has to generate enough revenue to continue developing their products somehow. It would be nice if donations were enough to cover those development costs but that simply isn’t the case. Because of this the ad networks are a necessary “evil”.

I just wish Firefox had a “stay running in the background” option like Chrome so that I didn’t have to log back into my Bitwarden vault everytime I accidentally close all of my browser windows.

I use it almost exclusively on Gboard. Works well when you get used to it and in combination with the suggestions at the top of the keyboard it’s faster than manually typing. Not sure how it fares on iOS though.

They have their uses. In particular they’re useful for easily getting applications your system repositories don’t have or getting more up to date version of applications. Downsides are certainly the space all the redundant dependencies take up and the sandboxing can be a PITA especially if you have an application that needs to run another application. Overall I think they’re the best “third party” package system available but they’re not great.

App Images do suck, but I don’t think flatpak is much better. It’s more of a lesser of two evils situation. Snap isn’t even in the conversation.

Same I was taught. Think it’s official. Professor was a stickler for following official rules so I doubt he would deviate.
