Nah. Went over to Liverpool and London, there’s good food. Just avoid low-end british cuisine, high end is fine, but expensive. Lebanese places in particular seemed to be all-around great, with good prices, tasty food, and friendly people.

One caveat to this: make sure it isn’t a game you know inside and out. You’ll go by memory instead of actively trying to interact with the language. At least that’s the way it goes for me.

Oh, music theory? How intro is it? I’ve wanted to learn some for some time, enough to maybe understand why my favourite songs work.

I took classes when I was a kid but wasn’t interested, several years later I was really into classical and jazz and I was able to play by ear but it literally takes me a minute to recognize notes on a sheet, nevermind recall notes. Some of the inside baseball stuff might as well be binary, too. Just incomprehensible.

Family problems, health problems, carreer problems, and just GAD piling up on me. Someone took my pulse and it was running a sprint while I was sitting. Hands were absolutely numb and my fingers were twisting by themselves into weird poses, I couldn’t hear a thing and I couldn’t breathe.

That was the worst one I’ve ever had, and thankfully, the last one. Over a year ago. Every now and then I can feel one coming up but I’ve learned how to calm myself down in therapy.

Hard work does not always lead to success. Most of the time, it just leads to more work.

Just rock or is metal allowed? Cus if so:

1. Ghost (Ghost B.C. in the UK) is very silly. Guys dressed in corpsepaint clergy, sounding like a hodgepodge of 70’s/80’s hits you missed. They got lore too, which is appropriately silly.

2. Electric Callboy is silly. They are… Like, deathcore mixed with whatever they feel like for that song. We Got the Moves is deathcore with a bit of hard bass, for example. And it’s a song about partying. Pump It is about going to the gym. Spaceman is about a guy going to space and rapping in german. Honestly one of my favourite bands.

3. Wind Rose is silly as hell. Bearded guys, singing about dwarf stuff. They covered Diggy Diggy Hole and blew up, and props to them because their version is a banger, but they got good original stuff too which is sadly overlooked because Diggy Diggy Hole was just that good.

4. Powerwolf is another one, similar to Ghost. They’re vampiric werewolves? And their songs are all in-keeping with that theme. Power metal though, unlike Ghost.

5. Austrian Death Machine is also silly. Voice actors emulating Arnold while the vocalist growls about lifting weights, the cookie monster, jingle bells, getting to the choppah, etc. The vocalist’s history has kind of soured the band for me though.

6. Gnome is underrated. Their songs are simplistic as hell, and none of them are virtuosos. But their songs go hard. Wenceslas is great, Ambrosius as well. Edit: writing this gave me an earworm and went down Gnome’s songs. Their bassist is a goddamn genius. Simple licks that sound great, and they got weird time sig changes here and there that tickle my brain in the best ways. I can’t figure out if they are actual time sig changes or just weird changes, and I love that.

Those folks are really good, just wish their songs didn’t sound so samey.

Guaras, or Guacamayas, I suppose. Think they’re called Macaws in english. They’re neat, pretty feathers and all. Shame they’re hardly ever visible outside of a zoo, unless you’re in the right spot at the right time and you’re really paying attention.

Couple weeks ago. I live in a very “traditional” part of the world and long hair isn’t common on men, especially well taken care of long hair. If I’m not wearing a cap, people often get confused before they see my beard. I don’t mind it, honestly.

Don’t remember the last time I misgendered someone, really.

Not mine but my grandma’s. We got her some plastic boxes with little containers inside of it, like a calendar but for medicine. Keeping it stocked up is a pretty good way of gauging what she’s running out of. Plus, she knows what to take at what time.

When I was taking meds I’d keep my medicine on my bed table stacked, and I’d keep two contact lens containers on me, one for my morning meds and another for my noon meds. I’d refill both at night. I can’t do bigger containers because it becomes too much of a hassle to refill them for myself.

Third or fourth hand nokia, one of em indestructible ones. I was in school, so I didn’t have much use for one. Kept using nokia until I got a blackberry, and then a samsung. Moved over to iphone but didn’t like it much.

VHS player when I was a toddler. Was in the daycare and saw a cord, so naturally I pulled it. It was on top of the TV, which was bolted to the wall high up. Shattered on impact. Nearly fell on my head too.

Man… I’m feeling better every day about leaving Reddit, and most other social media, for that matter. What the fuck is wrong with people.

One monitor for moodboard, another for materials, tablet monitor for working.

It’s honestly a neverending stream of new stories. There’s new, quality mods nearly every day.

Not yet! Waiting on a friend, we’re doing an all-barbarians playthrough, so we were thinking halflings. It’ll probably get very messy.

Baldur’s Gate 3, four playthroughs back to back, two of em multiplayer. I still play it every now and then when I want to continue my honor run.

Besides that, Rimworld. Nearly 4k hours.

Oh yeah. Music is one of em. Never learnt how to read sheets or much of anything about music theory. I mean, I only just learnt how time signatures work. I play the guitar sort of okay, and have a decent ear. But everything I’ve learnt has been by feel, and I really want to properly learn theory. I want to know how the circle of fifths works, how polyrythms work, etc. like, I have a feeling of how they work but I couldn’t really talk about it at length and I’d have a hard time figuring out why a section of a song sounded interesting. I dropped that desire some years ago, but with every new artist I discover I’m trying to break down how the music works in my head and often come up short.

Carpentry is another. Ever since I started playing guitar I wanted to build my own guitar from scratch. Then I took some industrial design classes in college and it cemented my interest in it. During lockdown I bought some tools but got distracted with other fleeting interests. Once I have enough space for a workshop, I’ll get on that.

Lastly, storywriting. Whatever I write, it feels like it’d be at home in a technical manual. Regardless of what language I write in, it feels stilted and sterile. I’ve been working on this one lately though. I’m DM’ing a campaign with a ton of homebrew and wrote and designed a 70 pages long handbook for my players. The ones that took the time to read it really liked the flavour and worldbuilding I did, so, progress.

Edit: forgot one, mead, and spirits in general. Made one batch years ago, with apple juice, cinnamon, and cloves. It was good after about 2 years. I still have a 2L bottle in my closet. At this point I think I should just bin it. For a time a friend and I were talking about making large batches of it and selling it on the DL as party drinks. Pineapple mead, mango mead, etc.

Comment less, but I’ve enjoyed it much more. There’s so much shit slinging in reddit. Every comment thread eventually devolves into one guy with an out of pocket comment or hot take, or miscommunication even, and then everyone dunking on the guy. So much negativity.
