I disagree that this is unambiguous, I was also confused reading this headline. It's odd wording. It may be technically correct but that doesn't mean it's unambiguous.

It's a terrible idea and it tells me that all the propaganda were getting about Ukraine clearly winning and barely losing anyone is bullshit. They must be real desperate if they're conscription people with mental disorders.
Sim Park
Idk if anyone else ever even heard of it, it was a late 90s Sim game where you built a wildlife park.
I agree 100%. I set up a home server after reddit fell, and unfortunately I’ve been having to use reddit to ask a lot of my questions. The communities for the stuff I need to ask here on Lemmy just don’t exist, and on reddit they do, and you’ll get responses pretty quickly.
For any kind of programming questions reddit has been far better than lemmy simply because it is significantly more populated.
Also I’d argue that none of this really matters because language doesn’t follow an absolute set of rules. Language is how people use it. If people start using a word to mean so thing it take son that meaning, it doesn’t matter if the word makes sense in relation to other words.
A word for something isn’t a 100% accurate description of that thing and it never has been. It doesn’t matter that a peanut isn’t technically a nut, we call it a peanut. Everyone understands that it’s a peanut. If you walk up to someone on the street and say “do you know where I can buy some peanuts” they will understand what you are saying with no problems at all.
We spend way too much time arguing over the “right” and “wrong” uses of words. There is no such thing really. Words don’t determine their own meaning, people determine that meaning, and if enough people can regocnize a words meaning immediately when they hear it then it is a word with a valid definition. It doesn’t matter if the word is contradictory to the way other similar words work, because language isn’t defined like that.
Ironically this whole stupid “homophobic peoe aren’t scared of gay people” actually proves that the person making that claim does acknoedge that the word homophobia is linguistically valid, because they are acknowledging that it’s understood definition differs from what you would expect if you strictly read the word literally
What us the definition of “hydrophobia” as it relates to chemistry?
I’ll wait for you to explain how some molecules are leterally afraid of water.
My dude you clearly don’t understand even a little bit of what leftists mean when we say that private property shouldn’t be allowed.
Heres a hint: we aren’t talking about your house and the stuff in it. Go read a book.
The rest of your comment is pretty spot on though, this is an insane post with even more insane suggestions
Are you seriously suggesting that this person soumd deliberately sabatoge a towns economy, after almost certainly having to lie to get elected in the first place, against the best interests of its inhabitants, just to personally enrich themselves?
Id be on board if you had said he should pass an ordinance banning Airbnb, that would be one thing, but you’re suggesting he should make the whole town inhospitable to tourists and crush their economy so he can buy himself a house then fuck off
The FCC is still to my knowledge taking public comments about data caps:

May be worth people here commenting about how they are ridiculous
You’re not protecting children, you’re teaching them to be hateful toward gay people.
Literally nobody is trying to force your kids to be gay. You are trying to force them to be straight, though.
"Look I know I called all these people groomers, which is a pretty serious accusation, and then used the power of the state that I run to strip them of some of the privileges they have, and explicitly said that I did that because they said something I don’t like, but this is bumming me out can you just drop it? "
100% with you on Joplin, I use it all the time. I love it. I haven’t yet found anything I like more.
I tried Obsidian recently and was turned off because the notes aren’t encrypted in place like with Joplin. To me that’s just a really nice privacy feature that I don’t like the idea of sacrificing, especially not to a not open source project.
If a coup happened tomorrow in Canada and the new government was suddenly allying itself with China and asking for Chinese military bases to be placed along the border with the US I guarantee that America would invade Canada within the year to “protect itself” against the “Chinese invasion.”
When you’re a country on the other side of the world and you’re trying to put troops in place to surround a country you’ve arbitrarily decided is your “enemy” then that’s a clear, open threat.
Would you have believed Russia saying that their troop buildup on the border of Ukraine in 2021 was “defensive?” If not why would you expect Russia to believe the same of nato? Russia at the time was claiming there was no intent to invade, just like NATO does.
Also we have been punishing Cuba with an embargo which has crippled their economy ever since just because we can.
I just keep hitting issues with the damn AIO, I got past this and now it’s stuck in maintenance mode. Who the fuck thought this was in a release ready state? I swear I’ve never had this much issue with ANY other docker container- and the documentation doesn’t help at all. I’m at a loss here, i’m super frustrated with this.
I also just don’t want to have different apps for literally everything I do. That sounds REALLY annoying. Having one application that I use for making, editing, and reading PDFs isn’t really asking that much IMO. It’s just like asking for an application to read, edit, and make text files. They might notve exactly the same task, but they’re certainly related enough that having them all in one place is perfectly reasonable.
But like, using LaTeX as a replacement for microsoft word is NOT really useful advice for the vast majority of people who use Word. I don’t need ANY of the special things LaTeX does, and I’ve been using Word all my life to do the basic stuff I need it for.
I get where people here are coming from, but the whole point of this thread is talking about proprietary software which is better for the average use case than open source stuff, and I think the point still stands that MSOffice products absolutely fit that bill. Yes, open source or free alternatives exist, but they aren’t nearly as good, feature-full, and easy to learn and use as the open source alternatives.
The fact that we’re here arguing whether LaTeX is a viable alternative to Word and Power Point kinda proves that MSOffice is the best for this IMO, because LaTeX isn’t exactly easy to pick up and use and is really intended for industries that need extremely complex formatting on their presentations and papers.
This guys reply to me was literally “git isn’t too technical, mathematicians use this extremely complicated program for generating highly technical documents all the time so obviously grandma could too!”
I agree 100% with you, I tried to use LaTeX ONE time in college and nearly chucked my computer out the window, and I’m a software developer. I was using it for a math class and couldn’t get my head around any of it.
It certainly isn’t a good replacement for MSWord or PowerPoint for the VAST majority of people who don’t need to put mathematical notation into their presentations and just need words on a screen
I’ve said it many times: I think that copyright for all published art should extend for exactly one year after it’s publication then become public domain. For almost ALL media, the first year is the time in which it make over 90% of its money. If you haven’t turned a profit, or at least broken even, by then then you aren’t going to.
After tjay I don’t see why you should be entitles to royalties from every sale, especially with our modern system of mass distribution.
Hamas mutilated a woman's corpse then paraded it through the streets this morning. I've never even heard of Israel doing something remotely close.
Bust sure keep doing antisemitic whataboutism.
