  • That embezzlement conviction of Dalongeville, is both damning and an interesting look at the problem. Liberalism and leftism haven’t solved problems that common people actually experience. The right hasn’t either and has no real plan to, they just bother to talk about it and give common people a boogie man that they can aim their anger at.

It is frustrating to me how these parties on left barely even try to make people’s lifes better. To show them why more leftist or socialist policies are the way to go. It has been proven time and time again throughout history that in times of financial insecurity, normal people are easily swayed by far right strongmen and demonization of a weaker other. Why does the left continue to fail at preventing this?

  • Not only that but reddit isn’t allowing you to make new accounts as of today, without having a Gmail account first.

What? So you can’t use any other email provider but Google to sign up for a Reddit account?

EDIT: I actually don’t think this is correct. I just went to the sign up page and it does have buttons to create an account using Google or Apple OAuth (I assume) but there is a field under those two buttons for just any email. Put in my Outlook.com email and it accepted it and went to the next page where I could create my user name and password.

  • My understanding is that the feeling of suffocation is only due to a build up of CO2. So filling a room (or a mask I guess in this case) should not cause that feeling. Existential dread, fear, etc are obviously not affected, but it shouldn’t feel like they’re being strangled and can’t breathe.

You’re right though, in that obviously doing something inhumane such as killing people can’t be made humane. Its a paradox. And with our system specifically, I don’t think there is a way to do the death penalty “right” because the system isn’t just. Or even effective and logical.

  • I agree that it is insane. But considering that I live in a country with an unhinged gun culture, it is part of life.

And weirdly, you have to strike a balance. You don’t want to be complacent and forget you’re carrying a gun or treat it like it isn’t the deadly weapon that it is. But you have to be comfortable and familiar enough with it to be able to go about your day and be able to reliably draw and fire accurately if a situation occurs where the gun is necessary. Otherwise, there is no point in carrying at all.

Maybe a good comparison is driving or operating heavy machinery? You need to be aware at all times that you are operating something that could kill you and others in an instant at all times. You need to know where you are, where others are, etc. But you also need to be comfortable and familar enough with your vehicle or equipment that you can operate it smoothly and react to unforseen events.

  • I just finished Spiderman 2. I enjoyed it. It's technically ambitious with the city being so huge but detailed, second load screens for fast travel and just generally beautiful. It adds a lot more combat mechanics and balances some broken mechanics. The story was heartfelt and well done for the most part as well with a few non-combat sections that really let me relate to Peter and his relationships with Harry Osborn and MJ. Yurenthal as Peter Parker put in some emotional performances.

But the gameplay overall is extremely iterative. And the last third or so is extremely rushed with whole plot lines being crammed in and resolved in literal minutes.

If you liked the first game and just want more and "better", you will get that with this game. I was definitely satisfied.

  • I'm not finished with the game yet, but I'm a decent chunk into it.

They have really focused on his development more. In a way they're copying the normal Spiderman story (how to cope with balancing being a super hero versus having a regular life) but they're changing it a little bit by having him deal with emotions and plot points from the Miles Morales spin-off. And he's also balancing Pete who is going through the classic symbiote stuff.

I'd consider him a more interesting Spider-Man than the last game, but his regular life development isn't any more interesting. But I'm probably about half to 2/3 through the game so that could change.
