Haha, our kids do go under our table at times but they know not to go under other people’s tables.

I don’t have much tolerance for absentee parenting either, especially if the kids wind up seeking attention from others, by say going under someone else’s table, because they’re not getting enough attention from their own parents.

As a parent of younger kids, we’re sorry. We come armed with as many activities as possible and will take our kids outside if they’re too excited until food gets to the table. That will help them focus on eating.

We very rarely went out to eat when they were toddlers due to fear of our kids bothering others and understand that our desire to experience some level of normalcy shouldn’t come at the expense of others.

All that said, if the parents are trying to keep their kids occupied, please extend some grace. Being a parent can be extremely isolating and we’re simply trying to pretend like we still get to do normal things once in a while.

I wonder how they calculated the range. If it’s representative of the real world drive cycle these will experience, the estimate might not be too far off. A postal route is constant low speed stop and go. Regen is much more effective at higher speeds, so they’re probably dumping most of their kenetic energy to hear via friction brakes. Suspect their drive cycle is going to be something like an endless cycle of 25 kw acceleration, rest, 25 kw acceleration, rest, etc.

• not always showing me that I have things in my inbox when refreshing my feed
• links from a post to another post seem to render in my default browser (Firefox) vs Jerboa
• every once in a while gbord’s spell check stops working. I haven’t experienced this in other apps, so… maybe something is going on here?

Everything else is pretty solid though. The only nice to have feature would be saving draft replies locally automatically. Reddit is fun did that and spoiled me. Nothing is worse than starting a long reply, life getting in the way, coming back to Lemmy, and being greeted b my refreshed feed.

Oh, I still buy burgers. I’ll just go to a burger establishment to get them instead. Fast food used to be fast (aka convenient) and cheap. Now it’s just fast.

Note that I was not a frequent fast food eater before this, but I have pivoted to going to restaurants when I forget my lunch.

That was absolutely the case until very recently. Qualcomm bought Nuvia, a start-up that was stacked with former Apple engineers, a few years ago. These processors are just now coming to market. Laptops with these processors are benchmarking around MacBook levels (slightly behind single core, slightly ahead in multi core).

It’s very hard to argue against Apple hardware and battery life. Maybe with windows moving slowly toward ARM they’ll catch up some. It’s going to be very tough though - Apple has full control over their hardware, which meat they can optimize their OS for it.

I really hope the snapdragon x laptops gain some traction. I recently went laptop shopping and what I wanted (good to great display, stays cold, good battery life) line up really well with a MacBook/MB air. I just couldn’t stomach the stupid mark-ups for memory and storage. I wound up with a Lenovo 7x slim. Upgrading to 32 GB memory and 1 TB storage was around $115. The non-emulated performance on windows is solid. Emulated is generally ok for my usage. I’m probably going to try Linux on it when I have a light week, but I’m somewhat wary of the impact that will have on battery life.

My electric chainsaws and weed whacker always start. Eventually our lawn tractor will kick the bucket and I’ll either convert it to electric or buy one.

Depending where you live, it can be really hard to find ethonal free gas. As an added bonus, carburators hate having ethonal sit in them. They’ll develop a varnish. Carbs also don’t like sitting partially dry and getting all the fuel out of them is a massive pain. Yay lawn equipment.

Both. Ethonal is still corrosive and the majority of fuel systems these days are compatible with E15. That said, check your owners manual.

AWD, yes. V8, not sure. I think they share some underpinnings with the s10, so even if they didn’t come out of factory with one it wouldn’t be a hard swap.

That’s interesting. Zested lemon (finely grated lemon peel) has a pretty strong flavor too. I guess it’s not as intensely sour though.

I have a coworker who did a frame off (yes, they had a partial frame) restoration of their astro van. Some of those astro van people are really into them.

A lot of these system apps, while updated via the play store, won’t show up if you search the play store for them. They also won’t have reviews. An easy example, on my phone at least, is something called “Android System Intelligence”.
