  • Programming is actually hard af to do for any extended period of time (more than half an hour)

It requires such a specific mind that’s drawn to all the detail oriented specific robotic parts of coding but almost all coders say coding is easy because the people whose mind don’t fit coding already quit long ago

Yes I find coding hard and no I’m not coping

Actually programming being difficult might not be correct but more like programming is largely unbearable

  • Because nobody uses Signal

Look, I’m literally a tankie and understand the merits of Signal. I use it myself for anything that needs e2e encryption like organizing protests

But asking everybody else to download and use an app for just a single gc when all of their other chats are on other apps (that everybody else also already has) is far too demanding. Especially people you’ve just met and are trying to befriend

Not only that, but college roommate gc do not need e2e encryption unless you want to run a trap house. There’s absolutely no positive of using Signal for this other than your own personal preference. It’s just a little too self serving. Downloading Insta is free and you don’t have to participate in Insta bullshit. I think even a Messenger account works since Meta implemented cross platform chats

Now if they were asking for an iMessage gc and you have an Android then that’s fine to complain about because iPhones aren’t free and you’d have to replace your current choice of phone too

  • The arguments presented are so terrible and devoid of any meaninful substance

The first one was “China lol”

Then the one I replied to in support of “China lol” said “autocratic state” which is absolutely false unless all of your knowledge about China’s governance system comes from reading CNN headlines and skimming Reuters articles written by a dude with a bachelor’s in journalism that doesn’t speak Chinese

They also said “well known to” which implies it’s a special case when every state exerts overwhelming control and censorship over the media that occurs within their country
