YNAB is a life changer. If you buy into the way they orient budgeting, its amazing. I think their envelope style budgeting is the easiest way ive budgeted before, but i know its not for everyone.

I did my part 🫡
I would say that spending the time and energy to resist a law to specifically discriminate against trans people does make you a trans activist, in the literal sense of doing activism foe trans people, whether you would call yourself that or not lol
Can confirm, grew beard during lockdown, never went back!
I dont know what everyone is so upset about, the shotgun feels fine, the recoil doesnt feel bad, and the mag size isnt a huge problem for me.
Plus the flamethrower buff and laser cannon buff are super nice. Im usually in favor of the whole “buff everything else, no debuff” but this honestly feels fine.
Yea im pretty sure flatpak suports bundles that you can install directly, just like an appimage
If OP is a journalist or refugee at risk of being targeted and killed, my advice is don’t use a VPN, use TOR lol.
Not untrue, and I don’t think that the possibility should be glossed over, but honestly, what do you think is more likely: this specific person getting specifically MitM’ed by a bad actor, or a bad actor taking control of a repo that hundreds of people blindly trust. I have a sneaking suspicion that OP’s threat model isn’t sophisticated enough to need to really, truly, be worrying about that.
What are you on about? If you are using the 3rd party repo, you are just as likely to get malware than if you download the deb directly from the wbsite. Its literally the same thing, just adding the repo means that the malware could get installed automatically and without you knowing where it came from.
I am in no way trying to downplay the hurt and pain something like that causes. As a dude, I don’t think I can ever really be able to know what that feels like, but I can recognize it and empathize with it. No one deserves to go through and live with something like that. It totally sucks, I agree.
However, what exactly is destroying another child’s life going to solve? Is it going to make that child stop doing the thing they were punished for? Maybe, but the US recidivism rates beg to differ (44% within the first year). So what then? Is it just to make us feel good, being happy to watch another person get hurt, justified by this made up concept of ‘justice’? That’s the more likely answer, IMO.
There are much more constructive ways to prevent this from happening again that doesn’t require marking a child as an “undesirable” for the rest of their life. I can’t necessarily point to what that might look like, maybe enforced counseling to try and teach someone like that why what they did caused so much harm.
Ultimately, what I am trying to say is that someone like this should be held accountable for their actions, but enforcing suffering from the state is not an effective or moral way to do it.
I dont really think its a “boys will be boys” issue, and more that i dont think any child deserves to have their entire life ruined for something so early in their life. While i dont disagree that its very tramatic for the girls, and it is a really fucked up thing to do that should have no excuses for being acceptable, i feel there are better ways to tackle this issue than marking a 14 year old as a sexual predator or throwing them in jail barring them from a large portion of jobs, housing, etc. for the rest of their life.
But to be clear, i am a prison abolitionist in general, so take that as you will.
Exactly! 3d printing has been the glue for a lot of my hobbies. Ill find that tos and stuff i buy for one thing will eventually make a different hobby i have easier to get into. It helps me swallow the "ADHD Tax" on hobby jumping lol.
You should! Its a ton of fun, plently of places to play online. Unfortunetly in person play seems to still be recovering post-COVID in a lot of places, so it can be tough to play in person.
I am definitely someone whos hobby is exploring hobbies, but these are the ones that ive circled back around to:
Gaming, Programming, Go (an abstract strategy game similar to chess), 3D Art (Blender), DnD, and Warhammer 40k
As another Certified Hobby Jumper… i feel you. I like to frame it as exploring hobbies is one of my hobbies :) lol. Getting into something new is a ton of fun, even if it doesnt last.
I just had to switch my work computer from Arch to Ubuntu becusse they want MDM on all computers now, and flatpaks are litetally the only reason i can tolerate it.
I now prioritise getting stuff from flatpaks, then the repos, and if they dont exist i use Distrobox to export any app thats only on the AUR for example.
Bitwarden is so good. I cant be bothered to self host it tbh, but ill gladly throw money their way for premium for having the best cloud-hosted PW manager
I think its still piracy but i pay for deezer just so i can use deemix to get their FLACs lol.
