  • Nope, none of that. Can’t even support our veterans that fought in the past wars that taxpayers had to pay trillions for but they can afford the salaries of the soldiers currently out there. It’s like when a corporation cuts the 401k’s of thousands of employees then turns around and hires thousands more…

The yachts ordeal is yet another example. All this $ frivolously spent on excess before basic needs of citizens are being met. The U.S could damned near be a utopia if we’d elect some people with common sense and quit voting in corrupt politicians.

I could rant about this for hours as it’s just basic stuff. It’s petty and boring so read on at your own risk.

We can’t afford guns until the needs of the common people have been met.

We can’t afford to imprison people for trivial stuff when they’re not an active threat to society.

Healthcare is a right, not a privilege.

Food is a right. No one should have to decide between paying the rent and eating a proper meal.

Housing is a right and shouldn’t be a for profit industry. Buying up tons of land in a scheme to get wealthy isn’t good for anyone.

Banks just… shouldn’t exist the way that they do. Neither should the credit system, predatory loaning practices etc. Prices just keep going up due to this.

If banks/credit ceased to exist and loans stopped being made, then the price of things would have to adjust to reflect what the average person can actually afford which just makes sense right? If an average person can’t make enough to afford their own home at regular wages within a few years by their self then either they aren’t getting paid enough or asking prices are way too damned high.

There are just some practices in this world that are bad for it. Everyone knows the shit but no one will do anything because the people with the power to actually enforce change are benefitting too much from the same system to kill it.

Oh, and another one. Flint Michigan is supposedly enacting an (iirc) $9-10 million dollar bill to repair/replace their pipes in order for the people their to have clean drinking water and not get sick or die from lead poisoning. $9-10 mill would make all that difference yet our government won’t pay it even though we’re spending the better part of a trillion each year blowing things up. How petty is that? Can’t take a penny out of our war money so people can have clean drinking water… pathetic!

  • I miss back in the day. Used to be able to store all my stuff on CD-R's, hell before that it was floppy's. File sizes have grown exponentially, programs/apps all have huge sizes. Pictures and videos is my biggest issue, but I'd also like to backup games that I've downloaded so I don't have to download again. I can backup old games no problem, but modern games? Many are 100+ GB now, and in time they all will be and 200GB will be the standard, then a terabyte and more.

Anyway, until I can afford and find a 20 tb sad I'm just using DVDs for everything but games and large programs. Quick to write, solid, tangeable etc. If I could afford a bunch of flash drives I'd probably do that instead.

If you can afford it and it's important data I'd ofc recommend backing up to a large SSD, THEN to a cloud (or more) as a failsafe… then also using flash drives/DVD's etc. For an additional failsafe for the super important stuff.

I mean, if it's important backup all you can.

I've got priceless memories in my Google photos library but ofc Google removed being able to view them on my native photos app and download easily… so instead I either have to backup and save ALL of it in Google drive or download specific albums… idk so I wouldn't personally recommend google as a true backup as you never know, personally I'd just use DVDs and flash drives for that stuff

  • Haha, what a crazy coincidence! I had the original cyberpunk last year on windows 10. It was glitchy as hell but ran semi decent on my hardware.

Deleted it, and last night just installed phantom liberty.

Ngl, the gameplay and feel is so far 10x better than it was before the update. It's actually complete now and if you hated it before I'd honestly recommend another try as so far I'm actually sort of enjoying the gameplay whereas I hated it before and only played for the story.

Anyway, my issue is that with all of the updates it's not running anywhere near as nice as it was before. I'm having to run it on the lowest resolution with every graphic option disabled which stinks because with the gameplay being fixed somewhat I'd really like to enjoy it graphically as well.

I've installed Ubuntu dual boot on my ssd before and can do that again but any tips? I wouldn't know about where to even get phantom liberty on fedora or how to install it?

  • I'm new to the party and am still experimenting, not super tech savvy but I've been doing a few things.

I have one SD set up for retro gaming via Lakka. Wish Lakka had an option to add a desktop like RetroPie but just really love the interface and ease of use. Tried recalbox and it's nice as well! Can't remember why I settled for Lakka.

Another SD is for experimenting at the moment. As mentioned I'm brand new to the pi community so I've installed Raspbian on it and have just been testing the waters. Set up iirc my first VNC network between it, my PC and my phone. Also have been using it to rip and burn DVDs via brasero. Don't have wifi at home, I use a hotspot which complicates using my printer wirelessly so I'm considering using the pi as a network for that. There's also a cool program I found where you learn musical coding? It's pretty interesting though I still don't really know what it's for haha.

I'd really like to do more with it but as mentioned am just learning. Hell, I just got it running a few weeks ago after it had been down for a couple years so I'm sure I l'll be doing more when I find the time.

I'd love to set it up in my vehicle and have Spotify, gps navigation, retro gaming etc through it but seems like a big project with my limited understanding ATM.

  • Haha! Funny thing is that my wallet is only a "sometimes" because I also bring a backpack around too so often the wallet is in there for safekeeping along with a zillion other things. Going to update the comment with the backpack comments to elaborate lol.

Oh, and the multitools, That's a good question! I'm a mobile mechanic and am always needing one or the other. It began with just a knife and has expanded since.

1: The regular knife is for scraping gunk off of bolts, terminals etc. And also has a few edges that are the perfect size for peeling back wires. It also has a bottle opener and flathead screwdriver

2: Multitool #1 has a set of pliars, Phillips head, and a few other things I need and

3: The card shaped/sized multitool also comes in handy as it's a tiny wrench and has cutouts for tiny bolts so I can remove them. It also functions as a decent putty scraper and has a saw I use all the time. To boot, it's a ruler as well which is nice for sizing up small things.

I just use them all the time and they save me trips to the truck looking for wrenches/ratchets which is also why I carry the light, hope that explains my strangeness a bit lol

  • I don't understand how women cope with the lack of pockets. Purses aren't enough. Below is an honest list of about what I carry with me every single day.

On my body: Phone Bluetooth headphones in case. Multitool with pliars, screwdrivers etc Regular knife Another multitool but it's shaped like a card 20,000 mA portable battery sometimes Cord usb-c Cigarettes Lighter Bottled water (back pocket) Comb Wallet (sometimes) Little container for stuff, used to be weed but no more Emergency B.C in case of headache or backache *Emergen-C" packet in case of mild electrolyte deficiency

I haven't even filled half of my total capacity. I still have 7 empty pockets and 2 pockets are only half full. But that's not all. I bring a backpack everywhere as well.

  • It used to work at Apple tech support like a decade ago. I know bc I worked IT and our little program gave us a heads up about A: how long people had waited in cue and B: if they had cussed a.k.a were angry. When angry customers got to me there’d be a little angry emoji on the screen lol and those customers still tended to be cussing when I picked up. Anyway, I was always told that was how you skip cue and confirmed bc on days where the average wait time for a cx was say 20 minutes I’d get angry cussers that had only been in line for a few minutes. On the flip side I can confirm this doesn’t skip cue for Verizon (noticeably) as I’ve cussed that robot 10 times to no avail. Dmv doesn’t care either, but Apple once did.
