TST is not a super great org unfortunately. They do stuff for great headlines but apparently little in the way of effective advocacy. I’ve also heard that there are pretty bad issues with misogyny among the upper echelons. While it’s extremely long at 2hrs, Dead Domain’s video on the subject goes into great detail.
It’s really unfortunate, I wanted to believe they were fighting the good fight but I don’t know if I can in good conscience anymore

I mean, even if they’re broadly unenforceable, companies include them anyways as a means of intimidation. This FTC decision basically puts up a giant neon sign telling everyone “yeah this isn’t legal” which makes it pretty cut and dry. Big companies thrive on ambiguity because that’s where an expensive lawyer comes in to argue the case whichever way; they will have a much harder time doing that now.

As someone who tried getting into Overwatch 2 before Blizzard revealed it was all a sham 6 months before the “sequel” even dropped, this looks pretty interesting! I’ll probably give it a shot.
I don’t know anything about non-cartoon guy, but after confirming my guess, the sign behind says “Sneed’s Feed and Seed” at the top which is indeed a Simpsons reference. Apparently it has ties to 4chan culture as well, if the knowyourmeme page is anything to go by.
The Simpsons character is from the episode/scene in question, and I don’t know if he is given a name because I’ve never seen the full episode.
Edit: Additionally, the Simpsons character has been edited specifically to resemble a rule 34 rendition of Omni-man from Invincible, in which the artist depicted him with a suit on, but very skin tight and leaving very little to the imagination with everything visible through the suit. The original image was/is also shared around a lot in some spaces, mainly for shock value but there could be additional meaning. I had my suspicions that the issues I’ve been running into are mostly because of the worsening botting/scraping situation, and in part due to the general very slight preferential treatment Chromium browsers get on the wider Internet, where anything weird coming from Firefox automatically looks more suspicious because it’s an underrepresented browser already.
I typically just look up “Firefox Hardening Guide” and follow what looks like the best of the first few results every time I do a fresh install. Because of that, I don’t know exactly which guide I followed last, but this one echoes a lot of the steps I remember taking. I’ve since turned webRTC back on because it kind of broke discord(… I know, I know, discord is terrible for privacy but it’s where all my peeps are at!) Didn’t tweak everything outlined in guides such as the one linked, but pretty much whenever there was privacy to be gained seemingly without significant website breakage, I’d toggle it.
The user agent thing was bizarre, especially since it was also on Minecraft.net! I swapped to a generic Chrome on Windows agent and it instantly started working again and let me use the site as normal again. That said the user agent thing doesn’t always work… But the fact that it does sometimes may be a clue to why websites seem to hate my configuration.
I don’t use a VPN currently
I have found that it happens more frequently with sites I’ve either not been to before, or not visited for a long time… Again it does seem to go away after 20 minutes or so for any given website, I just find it weird that it seems to be happening more.
I might have been exaggerating the degree to which this happens… It’s been only around 5-10 occurrences since the start of the year, but it happened so rarely before that point in time I barely noticed. Could also be a coincidence, it’s just barely enough though that I’ve been starting to get suspicious and wonder if anyone else was having issues

No, I haven’t had/used a VPN while this has been occurring. Main reason I made the post was that it has started affecting my work computer as well trying to access files from various websites for pdf specs

Every time I see a Doctor Seuss parody that doesn’t respect the very strict meter that made his stuff flow so well, it’s always followed by about five minutes of me trying to fix it and then stopping because that was supposed to be the author’s responsibility. You can sneak in an extra syllable here or there, and there will be situations where it’s ambiguous based on word pronunciation, but any more than two syllables off and you should’ve workshopped it some more.

I linked it because I recall it having a lot of cogent points and being relevant, and because I don’t remember off the top of my head the specific allegations, I didn’t want to dig through a two hour video I’ve already seen at the exact moment of writing because I only had so much time and research to dedicate to a Lemmy comment. It’s valid to be annoyed by a long video linked as an argument, but my comment was a “too long didn’t watch” version of it… that actually left out some details like the founder also being a fucking eugenicist.
I also use an adblocker, and the vid has some opinions obviously but was mostly going over evidence, recordings, and related allegations.
You don’t have to watch it if you don’t want to. I linked it as a secondary source. While primary sources are preferable and it might have been a good idea to do the legwork myself, I wanted something posted quick to maybe make people think twice on the “donate to TST” call to action in the initial comment.
