  • This has always been my conundrum.

Do we give into the “sacrifice your liberty for safety” type thinking or do we see the actions of a man like Trump for what it really is: writing on the wall for something much worse to come.

One day it won’t be a buffoon like Trump, it will be a calculated and intelligent person. It’s not a conspiracy theory anymore, Trump showed us the cracks in the foundation, we can choose to ignore it whenever the guy in office wears a blue tie, or we can take note for whats to come.

But again, on one hand, kids dying isn’t cool, but on the other, setting ourselves up for a potential systematic oppression also sounds pretty bad. We have enough systematic oppression as it is

Not to say Trump is my sole factor for having these beliefs, I’ve always tangled with the issues of safety and liberty when it comes to gun laws.

  • “God created Eve from ’aḥat miṣṣal‘otaiv (אַחַת מִצַּלְעֹתָיו‎), traditionally translated as “one of his ribs”. The term can mean curve, limp, adversity and side.”, per Wikipedia

Different sources somehow use different words, so I’m curious what the actual words were.

Not an actual argument from your point, as it can still be translated as side, but the video and all other instances I can find differ on the actual words used.

But this is why language context matters, a word being able to be used in multiple ways muddies the waters of intention when viewed from a perspective of 2500 years later.

It’s not that some hobbies are based on exclusivity or even some other hipster rationalization, but there definitely is a period where a shit load of new people come in, read half a wiki page, then proceed to argue and talk down to people who have been at it for years. It ruins communities if the audience widens too much at once. I’ve been online long enough to have seen it happen multiple times.
