Mere hours after some House Republicans reported progress on a proposal to avoid a government shutdown at the end of the month, Donald Trump demanded they use the opportunity to "defund" Special Counsel Jack Smith and his team.
There is already no denying his allegiance to Russia.
-Constantly brags about deals made with the Russian government
-Openly, on television, called for Russia to hack Hilary Clinton's emails
-Praises Putin at the DROP of a hat
-the Helsinki summit
-openly disparages Zelenskyy and regurgitates Russian state propaganda
If this was the 60s, Trump would be crucified by the GOP. Doesn't the GOP still hate capital C Communism? Russia is hardly a communist country, but the optics of it are completely antithetical to what conservatism in America has always stood for.
Modern conservatism stands for nothing except power for power's sake. They want nothing except "their way", what ever it happens to be this week. They're simply enemies of democracy.
Nahhh old conservatives at least pretended to have values they were protecting while being wannabe despots. They're getting way, way more brash and open about being fascistic pieces of shit these days, and that is a very worrying development.
They're no longer fascistic in effect. They're becoming openly fascist. That is very bad.
You're not wrong that they've been taking the mask off lately, but my point was that conservatism is an unbroken thread going back to monarchists. It's never been about "tradition" or other BS like that; it's always been about hierarchical power.
I repeat, it was a mistake to treat him seriously as a candidate, his behavior needed to be addressed and someone needed to pull him aside and ask him what the hell he thought he was doing.
Donald Trump in the presidential race needed to be treated not as a proper contender, but as a rampaging bull that had ran onto the track and started goring the jockeys.
"Russia, if you're listening…" should have been the moment any idea of him as a legitimate candidate was dropped, and he was placed into Federal custody.
In future generations, when the Republican party is remembered in the same way that all fascist groups ultimately are… people will highlight the "aww shucks" response as an indication of the past's naivety

FTFY. Conservatism has literally always been that.

Yea, wholly agree on that part. They're always "conserving" the worst parts of society.
"Russia if you're listening…" should have been the start of cuffs being slapped on his wrists, instead it was laughed off as a joke.
"Russia if you're listening…" was 2016's "Proud Boys, Stand Back and Stand By…"

Fascist kleptocratic Russia is 100.0000% fully aligned to micrometer precision with what conservatism in America has always stood for.
