In the south? Yeah, it’s necessary for the FBI to be involved. Just 10 days ago some shitbags who attempted to murder a black fed ex driver got a mistrial due to gross negligence by the local police. This was mississippi. When local police are “accidentally” making mistakes that make it difficult/impossible to prosecute crimes against people who happen to be the wrong color then yeah, it really does take the FBI to get the job done.

What needs to be handled. It’s a hate crime. Period. It need not be investigated to reach that conclusion.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t trust local PD anywhere to investigate crimes that police keep getting rewarded with paid vacation for committing themselves.

I don’t really trust the FBI to do it either, but I distrust them less than local cops.

There are federal hate crime laws, so the FBI has opened an investigation. If this was “just” murder, it likely wouldn’t be a federal crime and only investigated by local and state agencies.
