Yeah, he is too old, but the only other alternative is Trump (also too old) and his maga ideology. No thanks, I’ll take grandpa Joe.

This is the problem with american people. You look between those two shits and go “well i guess this one stinks less”. But also youre supposed to have weapons in order to oppose a bad government or something. Learn something from the french. Revolution is an increasingly viable option

No, that isn’t the only alternative. For most States the primary still hasn’t happened!

Why do you believe Biden is the only alternative?

I understand what you mean, and people should get a chance to vote in the primaries for the person who they think is best, but Biden is the incumbent, and he’s out there winning primaries with like >85% of the vote. Hell, he even won the write-in campaign in Iowa. ( That’s to say nothing of him winning against more than a dozen other, younger candidates in 2020. ) Marianne Williamson is the only other candidate to regularly crack 1%, and she’s not exactly “president material” if you ask me.

It’s going to Biden vs Trump. Two old ass white dudes who aren’t exactly sharp (though Trump is most certainly dumber, weirder and not to mention a fucking criminal fascist). For me, that makes it the easiest choice of my year.

What if you just didn’t do that? what if something like <5% of the US population didn’t vote for the parties of capital? Guess we will never know because liberals can’t do the bare minimum with the legal power they are given.

The majority of American elections are winner-takes-all, first-past-the-post races decided with plurality voting. Among other things, this means that if you are voting for someone outside of the realm of the statistical possibility for victory, you are simply throwing your vote away. That is the way the system works today, whether we like it or not, and wasting my vote by writing in Bugs Bunny or whatever isn’t actually a reasonable, productive, grown-up, or intelligent thing to do–especially not in the face of impending autocratic fascism.

In other words, the winner of the 2024 Presidential Election will either be Joe Biden (D) or Donald Trump ®. Of those two, I can easily pick Joe Biden as the person I would like to see running the country, controlling the US nuclear arsenal, and watching over the western world. Again, it’s an easy choice for me. As someone who does probably too much research and overthinking into voting, I’ve never had an easier choice.

But hey, if you’re like me and you don’t like the current American two-party political system, then I encourage you to vote for democratic reforms like Ranked Choice Voting, STAR voting, approval voting, etc. Multiple states have implemented better, more democratic voting systems, and more will hopefully continue to in future years, because unsurprisingly they are almost all better and more democratic than plurality voting.

Our voting system is broken, make sure to Vote! to Fix it. But you can’t just vote for someone who wants to fix it, you have to Vote! exactly the same way every year, and eventually (somwhow?) the voting system will be fixed.

How the fuck do you look at this and go “Hmm yes I’ll vote, this system is totally working”? This isn’t a democracy. Your only option is a senile zionazi puppet leader.

Even the french understood what to do in this situation. There are already leftist orgs you can join which aim to take power over this thinly-veiled oligarchy.

No one thinks the system is working. The losers say it’s rigged, the winners beleive they’re lucky they won in a broken system, and the winners eventually become losers anyway. So yeah, the left wants better candidates but the shit part about being on the left, on any progressive front, is that we can’t all agree on what’s most important so we get stuck with limp, neutrally progressive candidates as an average of our interests. The right, the don’t-change or even regressive side, has it so much easier. Just vote for a crybaby that stomps his foot saying “no” to his greens. Even if they debate between Trump or Christie or Haley, whoever, they’ll still have an easier time just undoing whatever that black guy or the junkie’s dad did.

So yeah, we keep voting at the final game for the wet towel because we saw how easy it was for the other side to start ripping into democracy. We saw what happens when progressives boycott the vote because their favorite candidate didn’t win the primary. We saw what happens when half the country argues about turning left, right, staying straight, or maybe even going up while the conservatives only debate about hitting the brakes or throwing it in reverse. We don’t have ranked choice or any other better system than FPTP so here we are

Winner takes all makes sure there really aren’t tho. Outside of the most local races you cannot be an independent or some other 3rd party. I get what you mean and I advocate it when I can, but the presidential is not a realistic goal.

Not in a world of first-past-the-post. If you want actual third-party options you need to support ranked choice voting.

I of course support ranked choice voting, as well as I support having a democrat debate then a primary vote. Bernie and Gavin would destroy old Joe, which means it should be one of them up against Trump doesn’t it.

Bernie already lost the primary in 2020. He’s too far left for most Democrats.

For Gavin you can just point at San Francisco.

What’s annoying in this situation is that the Republicans love Israel, back them in the war and want to send weapons to them in droves. This means that Joe, being more of a moderate/centrist wins favor and likely votes from their side by doing so.

But it also means if we don’t agree with that, we can’t vote Republican either because it’ll likely be worse.

Ah, another thing they agree with Biden on, how nice.

Biden is not “more of a moderate”, he’s openly been a zionazi his whole career, and why the fuck is anyone looking at a genocide and going “well it could always be worse”?

Well it’s not wrong ig, the core of the imperial core can indeed always be worse. And it’s not going to get better by voting; that’ll happen by organizing and mass movement.

The US (and all capitalist nations’ tbf) political system only exists to protect capital. Anyone put in power through it showing even the slightest hint of anti-imperialist sentiment (like JFK for wanting to abolish the CIA and giving an anti-colonial speech) will result in their swift removal. It can only shift further to the right.
