I’m looking into this not the first time I heard of it. Do I have to self host. Do I host it on the machine I want to remote into?

You don’t have to self host it. It works like TeamViewer. You install it on both the client and host and with the ID and Password you can then access your remote client. But if you want more control/privacy you can host your own relay server.

OK, great I will probably set up the self host thing later but will use the non self hosted version first. Thanks :)

I use tailscale to access my PC from anywhere and good old VNC to control it. Tailscale literally takes 5 minutes to set up, it’s incredibly easy and completely free for what you’re trying to do.

For the VNC setup I run krfb on the desktop and AVNC on the phone.
