Well, that didn’t take long lmao
This certainly looks like both venture and established capital saying that while it was fun pretending to take EA concerns about AI seriously, it's time to move on.
Also the increasing number of anti-EA effortposts that started cropping up in the OpenAI subreddit over the last few days is deilghtful.
Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss
I cannot believe they kept the Quora guy.
They should update their structure page and strike stuff like this:
The for-profit would be legally bound to pursue the Nonprofit’s mission, and carry out that mission by engaging in research, development, commercialization and other core operations. Throughout, OpenAI’s guiding principles of safety and broad benefit would be central to its approach.
And maybe a good ol' IRS audit to boot. From this vantage, it looks like a structural coop.
They need to run it through Chat-GPT and apparently their account is overdrawn…
i’d be more impressed if he was coming back with a new beard tbh
I’m not sure about if this is good or bad - we have very little info on why he was ousted in the first place.
"good or bad"? there is no good here. good would be when openai finally closes down. anything else is still just a shitty option from many shitty options.
Either way it's a circus of incompetence.
It certainly looks like more of the same. Maybe the negative publicity on EA is a silver lining.
Yeah, there likely wouldn’t be much of a difference in badness if Altman went to MS vs. getting rehired at OAI. EA owns are at least a decent dopamine factory
E: apparently Larry Summers is the 'women are worse than man at high end math' guy.
E2: It gets worse
Anyone else thought they got a 404 error?
