Maybe if voters got off their ass in Texas and participated, you'd see some change. 55% of the registered voters didn't vote in '22. That was after they fucking froze or baked to death because the power grid is fucked.
The margin of victory (in Texas) was actually quite narrow when you consider how many didn't vote. I'm guessing among the non-participants was at least 1 mil liberals that thought Biden had no chance of winning. This was one of the closest races since 1992 (but that was mainly because of Ross Perot).
I've never understood places like Texas or Alberta that always vote the same out of some sort of team like mentality.
Why would any party, even the one you support, offer you anything if they don't risk losing your votes? The other party has nothing to gain by helping you, and your party has nothing to lose by ignoring you.
Democracy needs to be adversarial where the parties in power constantly fear you'll flip on them and throw them to the wolves.

Non-voters aren't really 'non-voters'. They're just voting for "I'll have what they're having".
I couldn't imagine throwing away your only voice just to get what you don't want.

Pretty sure that's precisely why the parties push wedge issues.
