The reality here is simple actually. Try to get another -better- job and, when you succeed, you can consider yourself “ready” because your peers evaluated your skills and they consider you good enough for the job.

If buying a graphics card is in your plans, but AMD. Nvidia does better cards, but AMD works with less bugs on Linux. I just switched and I’m quite happy with the results.

I think you are lost in the language. There are no absolute rights, in any legal systems. So any “law” necessarily restricts someone’s “rights”.

Therefore, you need to think about what “authoritarian decision” means, because if all law restricts someone’s rights, all laws are authoritarian by your definition.

If both mostly don’t care and don’t engage in politics, I agree with you or take (and usually that’s true for the majority); but in times of crisis, politics impose itself to people and that can be a major issue in a relationship. And in this century we will have a lot of crisis to deal with.

That’s also a political requirement.

“What are your values and political views?” Compatibility on that subject is quite important IMHO.
