I’m using an ✨analogy✨ to explain to you why, even if they are “serious about the topic in the ads”, they would stop them when someone dies or a tragedy occurs. Its not some conspiracy about “planned division”, it’s because speaking ill of someone under those circumstances makes you look like (and be) a disrespectful dick.

I’m not asking if you remember them as an arsehole and speak of them like that. I’m asking if you do that at their funeral.

Yeah see, I don’t think you get it. First of all the term has existed across multiple generations at this point, and really only unifies discussions of hegemonic masculinity that have spanned far longer.

Secondly, and more importantly, toxic masculinity has nothing to do with the “basis of gender”, unless of course you’re claiming that these traits are inherent to males, in which case I suggest you start with “The Second Sex” and work your way up to a real conversation. To put it simply for you, toxic masculinity is just a term used to encompass certain behaviours, and (more importantly) how they are taught and reinforced. It’s obviously more complex than that, I haven’t even mentioned the study of how the rigid enforcement of these behaviours can negatively affect men, but I suggest you learn from a book instead of random women on Lemmy.

But was the code they wrote substantially identical to yours? Was what they claimed credit for your work just modified, or did they write an entirely new port that only bears resemblance?

If its the latter, you got the exact amount of credit you deserved. I’m not going to argue that their conduct was professional (though, neither was yours), but they don’t have any obligation to credit you further.

When I was looking a couple years ago Ubuntu Touch was by far the most developed and stable. Primarily because Canonical poured millions of dollars into its development before giving it up and dropping it, but the community has gone a long way to make it what it is today.

Probably not a popular choice on this community though.

It’s a convenient excuse that allows them to reject any social progress without having to examine or defend any of their own views. It doesn’t matter that the ideas of the “leftist revolution” may in fact be correct and completely justifiable, because introducing it through a “revolution” is inherently bad.

Please take the aggression down a notch, I was not the one who claimed you support Israel and I did not intend to make such an implication.

I don’t particularly appreciate your insinuation that because I said Palestine won’t forget Israel’s actions that I somehow support the cycle of violence in the region.

Obviously it isn’t a foregone conclusion. Even if they come back in favor of Israel, that doesn’t mean people, especially Palestinians, won’t remember what happened.

I don’t think it is productive or helpful to be overly cynical. An ICJ ruling may be too late or insufficient to stop a war, but officially committing a genocide would be headline news, and will erode public and political support for the occupation of Palestine.
