However, some Republicans have characterized Biden’s effort as a “bailout for the wealthy.”

    I’M SORRY WHAT???

Do these people think that having an education means you’re wealthy?

They simultaneously believe that only the wealthy go to colleges, only the poor get loans, and everybody is getting a degree in underwater basket weaving. They don’t want an educated populace… And it’s working.

Yeah it certainly looks that way… Terrifying stuff to watch from the sidelines. I hope for all our sakes that these people have a moment of realization sooner rather than later.

No, it’s because their base is generally undereducated and easily triggered. Making conflated bullshit easy to pass off.

This is the answer. They know that what they’re saying is bullshit. They also know that “bailouts for the wealthy” is seen as a bad thing by most voters, and most of the people who would ever consider voting for them won’t look deeper into it than that.

They deal in headlines and soundbites because the uneducated are their target audience, and the majority of people are uneducated.

No, they just don’t think that words mean anything, so they’ll use whatever words necessary to convince the gullible sheep to willingly walk into the slaughterhouse.

Apparently capping interest for people in financial hardship while they’re making regular payments to prevent a loan that spirals out of control from accumulating interest is “a bailout for the wealthy.” According to Republicans.

Very upsetting because the new SAVE plan is a big improvement over the prior repayment options in a lot of ways. Imagine if due to a court order everyone who just got restarted on student loan repayments suddenly has their payment plan forcibly and suddenly switched back resulting in higher payments and all the confusion and people who would blame Biden and, oh I think I just explained why Republicans are doing this.
